Open Platform 3.0™ Forum:
Semantic Models and the Internet of Things (IoT) Working Session
Objective of Meeting
The purpose of this one-day workshop was to explore the use of semantic models to enable information exchange in the Internet of Things (IoT).
Summary
The meeting discussed:
- The use-cases associated with Electric Vehicles of the bIoTope EU project on Smart Cities
- The electric vehicle use-case and data model in the draft Open Data Element Framework (O-DEF) standard
- Applicable information exchange use-cases and data model requirements that could leverage the O-DEF and the Open Messaging Interface (O-MI) and Open Data Format (O-DF) standards
- Draft O-DEF data element concept mappings and associated draft O-DF and O-MI messages
It then:
- Formulated conclusions and recommendations
- Defined a go-forward strategy and action plan
Outputs
The detailed minutes of the meeting, available to Open Platform 3.0 Forum members, record the discussions and conclusions.
Next Steps
- Repeat the workshop at The Open Group event in London in April, bringing in as many of the bIoTope project participants as possible.
- Explore potential direction on case studies and examples that could be utilized to prove O-MI, O-DF, and O-DEF viability.
- Investigate the needs and expectations of the cities participating in bIoTope.
