Open Platform 3.0™ Forum Members' Meeting

Objective of Meeting

The aim of the meeting was to progress the work of the Open Platform 3.0 Forum by discussing:

  • Security Capabilities in the Open Platform 3.0 Standard
  • Data Management and Event Correlation Capabilities in the Open Platform 3.0 Standard
  • Liaison with the IT4IT™ Forum
  • Modern Service-Oriented Architecture
  • Status of Forum Activities

Summary

Security Capabilities in the Open Platform 3.0 Standard

This topic was discussed in a joint session with the Security Forum. It addressed:

  • Security and Safety
  • Risk and Assurance
  • Threats to Policy
  • Advanced Persistent Threats and Information Flow Risks
  • Confidentiality
  • Internet of Things
  • Digital Identity Management

Data Management and Event Correlation Capabilities in the Open Platform 3.0 Standard

The Forum discussed event correlation in the context of the IT4IT Detect-to-Correct value stream. This is only one aspect of event correlation, but it is an important one. A model for this aspect was presented, and was received favorably by those present.

Liaison with the IT4IT Forum

The Forum discussed the relation of its work to that of the IT4IT Forum. Collaborative activity could:

  • Establish common terminology
  • Formulate a description of the relationship between the standards of the two Forums

From the Open Platform 3.0 perspective, the essential value of such activity would be to develop an understanding of how the IT4IT Standard relates to capabilities that should be defined in the Open Platform 3.0 Standard. This would be valuable from an IT4IT perspective also.

Modern Service-Oriented Architecture

In a joint session with the SOA Work Group, the meeting discussed the role and nature of service catalogs, microservices, and fabric-based architectures.

Status of Forum Activities

The meeting discussed the status of the following Forum activities:

  • Development of the Digital Platform Standard
  • Big Data
  • Cloud Computing
  • Digital Business Strategy and Customer Experience
  • Internet of Things
  • Semantic Interoperability

No significant deviations from plan were reported.

Outputs

The detailed minutes will be available to Open Platform 3.0 Forum members.

Next Steps

Security Capabilities in the Open Platform 3.0 Standard

The Open Platform 3.0 Forum will send to the Security Forum a list of topics on which Security Forum input to the Open Platform 3.0 Standard will be valuable. The Security Forum will respond with material on these topics. This material will be used in the development of updated capability descriptions in the next snapshot of the Open Platform 3.0 Standard.

Data Management and Event Correlation Capabilities in the Open Platform 3.0 Standard

Discussion will continue on event correlation in the context of the IT4IT Detect-to-Correct value stream on the basis of the model that was presented, and will also continue on the wider aspects of event correlation.

Liaison with the IT4IT Forum

Members of the two Forums will work to develop an understanding of how the IT4IT Standard relates to capabilities that should be defined in the Open Platform 3.0 Standard.

Modern Service-Oriented Architecture

The conclusions reached by the meeting will be used in the development of updated capability descriptions in the next snapshot of the Open Platform 3.0 Standard.
