San Francisco 2016: Proceedings - Architecture Forum

Architecture Forum: Proposed Resolutions to Change Requests (Meeting 3 of 3)

(Wednesday, January 27)

Objective of Meeting

The main goal of the meeting was to discuss and define proposed resolutions for the change requests received during the second review round for the TOGAF® Framework volume starting with Chapter 2, and also to review the change requests for the Tools and Techniques volume.

Summary

The group discussed the general approach about the review process and some key features needed in the TOGAF standard before going over the change requests spreadsheet. Some of the Tools and Techniques volume change requests were also reviewed.

The group then discussed and went over the change requests submitted against the Framework volume. It was decided to start with the ones submitted by Judith Jones since she was not going able to attend in the afternoon.

The proposed resolutions were defined for all of the change requests for Chapter 2 through 10.

The final part of the meeting was a joint session between the Architecture and Security Forums.

John Spaulding, Security Forum Director reported on the latest actions. The Guide to Integrating Risk and Security within a TOGAF® Enterprise Architecture was published (available here) but still needs to be updated to align with the new content. There is no specific date for that delivery so a close follow-up will be made for this and also for the pending work in the two placeholders about Risk and Security Management in Volume One. If the content is not ready to be in the draft that will go for Company Review, then the new content will have to be submitted as new change requests and for the Guide to follow the proper process for publication considering the new version features and core concepts.

Outputs

  • Spreadsheet updated with the proposed resolutions for the change requests addressed (see Links below).
  • General agreements about the approach for the security material.

Next Steps

The group agreed the following steps and roadmap for the rest of the event week:

  • The spreadsheet will be updated on the Forum site.
  • The change requests that still need to be addressed will be processed in WebEx calls that will be planned for the next few weeks.
  • Closer follow-up on the progress of the security work.
