The latest Open Group member spotlight focuses on Shashin Shah, Director, One Point Consulting.

Q: How long have you been involved with The Open Group?
I have known about The Open Group for over 12 years when I used to work with Andersen and Deloitte.

Q: Why did you become a member and what does your involvement look like?
We specialise in Enterprise Architecture as a company and my Enterprise Architecture experience spans a career of 30 years and I recognise the importance of standards and in this area Open Group are world leaders. I hope to learn from the wider group and share my own experience. I want to participate in the Architecture Forum and Cloud and SOA workshop groups.

Q: How has membership in The Open Group benefited you, your organization and the industry at large?
As One Point Consulting, we have been a member for a few weeks but I am aware of the excellent work in TOGAF® that has been carried out. When I was at Andersen in the late 90's, I developed an EAI and EA framework using TOGAF 5/6. The impact of The Open Group has been ground breaking in shaping and bringing robust and credible frameworks to the wider industry.

Q: Why is it important for other organizations to join The Open Group?
For SME organisations like us, it is critical to keep abreast of current thinking and tap into the expertise of the Open Group. Important to keep monitor the pulse in newer areas like cloud computing.

    Q: What are your hobbies?
I meditate to keep myself calm in the intense and fast moving industry I work in.

Q: What book are you currently reading?
World Class IT Service Delivery, Peter Wheatcroft

    Q: Any last thoughts?
We are entering an unprecedented set of changes and challenges as we enter 2012. We will all need to be robust, creative and caring to help ourselves, our colleagues and the people and communities we come in contact with. I believe that the period of change will also ask each one of us to focus on things which are most important and I believe a more pragmatic, caring, sustainable society will emerge from what seems to be a chaotic period.
