    Q: How long have you been involved with The Open Group?

    We have been a member for one month, but SAMSON AG has been observing the activities of The Open Group for about half a year.

     

    Q. What do you do, and how long have you been doing it?
    I am Director of R&D Department Automation at SAMSON AG for about 10 Years.

     

    Q: Why did your organization become a member of The Open Group Open Process Automation™ Forum and what does your involvement look like?  

    SAMSON AG is interested in the activities about DCN. We are observing the work of the working groups connectivity, architecture, applications.

    Q: How has membership in The Open Group benefited you, your organization and the industry at large?
    We want to work on standards and become early adaptors.

    Q: What contributions do you hope to bring to The Open Group?
    Creating standards and providing experience in process automation.

    Q: Why is it important for other organizations to join The Open Group?
    In my opinion, working together on common standards is necessary for future IoT Solutions.

    Development of standards for the implementation of new automation concepts

     

    Mr. Gert Nahler has been head of R&D department “Automation and Integration Technologies” at SAMSON since 2019

    In 1983, he earned a diploma in communications technology. He joined SAMSON in the same year.  He was responsible for all types of communication with field devices to control system and cloud applications.  He is responsible for the test center for communications between field devices and process control systems and for SAMSON’s CE Conformity test laboratory. His department is also responsible for explosion protection and maritime approval of industrial equipment at SAMSON.
